BNR to release silver coin marking 150th birth anniversary of famed architect Petre Antonescu

The National Bank of Romania (BNR) on September 4 will put into circulation for numismatic purposes a silver coin dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of famous Romanian architect Petre Antonescu, according to a BNR press release, told Agerpres.

Featuring on the obverse of the coin will be Arcul de Triumf (Triumphal Arch) in Bucharest, the brainchild of architect Petre Antonescu, the inscription „ROMANIA” in an arc, the year of issue „2023”, the coat of arms of Romania and the face value „10 LEI.” The reverse of the coin shows the portrait and name of Petre Antonescu, and his birth and death years, „1873” and „1965.”

The silver coins, housed in transparent plastic capsules, will be accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue, as well as by certificates of authenticity, in Romanian, English and French. Each certificate of authenticity bears the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The maximum mintage is 5,000 silver coins, and the selling price, including the leaflet and the certificate of authenticity, is RON 490.00, VAT excluded.

The silver coins dedicated to 150the birth anniversary of Petre Antonescu are legal tender in Romania

The coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, at the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Craiova, Iasi and Timisoara.
